Three Things We Find in Hill Country Homes Every Week

Cedar dust, Texas humidity and 20-year-old ductwork add up. Most of it hides where you can’t look. Every photo below was taken by our crew on a real job.

Microbial growth in the return plenum

Microbial growth in the return plenum

New AC, old plenum. The box that feeds air to every room is often the original one and the one place nobody inspects.

“Gary inspected the plenum, there was microbial growth in the insulation. He replaced the plenum and installed a scrubber.”★★★★★ Eric Hall · Google review
Dryer vents packed with lint

Dryer vents packed with lint

A blocked vent makes your dryer run twice as long and is the leading cause of laundry-room fires. Cleaning takes about 30 minutes.

“Called after a blocked vent broke our dryer. They came out within two days, deep cleaned and inspected in less than 30 minutes.”★★★★★ Brittnie Mitchell · Google review
Ducts that were “cleaned” for $99

Coupon crews vacuum the register and leave. We open the trunk line, the coil and the blower wheel, and show you the photos.

“Came to do an inspection after a shoddy job by a different HVAC company. They remedied all the existing issues.”★★★★★ Karthik Selvakumar · Google review

They came to do the full inspection of our HVAC system and performed a thorough inspection with photos and a very detailed list of quoted recommendations. Gary and team were punctual the 3 times they came to our home and their price was very reasonable.

Noah took the time to show us photos from inside the vents and ductwork and clearly explained the level of cleaning needed and why. We really appreciated the transparency and education instead of feeling pressured.

Gary inspected the plenum, there was microbial growth in the insulation. The system was replaced 3 years ago but had the original 20 year old plenum. Gary replaced the plenum and installed a scrubber. We haven't had any allergy problems in our new home so far.

How a Visit Goes,
Start to Finish

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them without owing a thing.

1

We call you back

Within the hour, day or night. We confirm a window that suits you, often the same or next day.

2

Free inspection at your home

A technician opens the returns, plenum and dryer run, and photographs what is there. You can watch the whole time.

3

Written quote on the spot

Priced per line and per task, in writing, before anything is touched. Decide now or think it over.

4

Work done, home left clean

Most cleanings finish the same visit. You get after-photos and pay the balance when done.

Why the “$99 Whole-House Special” Costs More Than We Do

Most homeowners call three companies. Here is what to ask each of them.

Ask themAir Duct BustersCoupon duct cleaner
Is the inspection free, and do I get photos?Yes. Photos before and after, sent to your phone.Usually a “free estimate” that turns into upsells at the door.
Is the price in writing before you start?Yes. Per line, per task, signed before work.$99 covers a few vents; the rest is “extra.”
Do you clean the plenum, coil and blower wheel?Yes. That is where most of the dirt is.Register covers and a shop vac.
Who shows up?Our own technicians, a local company insured in Texas.Subcontractor crews from Austin or out of state.
Will you tell me if I don’t need it?Yes. About one in five inspections ends with “you’re fine.”The truck came out, so something will be sold.

Questions Homeowners Ask Before They Book

How much does air duct cleaning cost?

It depends on how many supply lines and returns you have and what we find inside, which is exactly why we inspect first. You get a written per-line price before anything is touched, and the inspection itself is free.

Is the inspection really free, even if I don’t buy anything?

Yes. We open the system, take photos, and hand you a written quote. If it is clean, we say so. Roughly one in five inspections ends with no work sold.

How long does it take?

An inspection is usually under an hour. A dryer vent cleaning takes about 30 minutes, a full duct cleaning half a day, a chimney sweep one to two hours.

What about the musty smell when the AC turns on?

That is usually the evaporator coil or the return plenum, not the ducts. Both are part of our inspection.

Are you licensed and insured?

Air Duct Busters LLC is a Texas company with general liability insurance. Gary, the owner, is a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep and an HVAC technician, and our technicians are employees, not subcontractors.

What happens after I send the form?

We call you back within the hour. The line is answered around the clock, seven days a week, so a form sent at night does not wait for the morning.
